Double Bonus supplement 1: Exceptions to Jacks Or Better strategy
The differences between the Jacks Or Better and Double Bonus paytables
necessitate a few changes to Jacks Or Better strategy in order to achieve optimum
return in Double Bonus. Please be aware that you can actually
ignore ALL of the following, play standard Jacks Or Better and still achieve a
very high payout. I'm listing the average "cost" of each mistake - assuming
you make the incorrect play - in coin size; if the miss-play is listed as
0.20 (one fifth of a coin) and you're playing $1 per coin ($5 total wager
with maximum coins played), the cost is $0.20, or twenty cents. There is also an example given of each play:
• If you hold a full house comprised of three aces and a pair, drop the
pair and hold the three aces only. Cost of error: 3.34 coins. (This is
an EXPENSIVE difference, because of the high payoff on four aces.)
Double Bonus

• Hold an open straight queen-high with three high cards over a pair of
9s. Cost of error: 0.2 coins.
Double Bonus

• Hold an inside straight king-high with three high cards over a three
straight flush, spread 5, one high card. Cost of error: 0.22 coins.

Double Bonus
Jacks Or Better
There is one additioan variation, holding a single ace rather than ace plus unsuited
jack, queen or king. This one is slightly more complex and at the same time very, very
inexpensive when played incorrectly. The precise rules are explained on the
Double Bonus supplement 2 page.
